Seiko accumulated the best (and also some of the ordinary) aspects of the old Alpinist and upped them to Prospex standards. The greatest move is replacing the 6R15 automatic movement the old Alpinist used with the 6R35, bringing a whopping 70-hour power reserve! There’s some reworking of the sapphire crystal and it has been given a date magnifier. There’s an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface of the sapphire crystal; also on the case back.
