The 1982 Hybrid Diver was a game changing watch because it was the world’s first hybrid diver, featuring both analog and digital elements. Here, many of the original features were brought over into the modern interpretation: chronograph with a digital readout, as well as time, date, and alarm functionality through the digital screen. The most important difference between the original and this new iteration is the engine powering them. The new watch has a solar-powered design that can run for a total of six months on a full charge. With three crowns, analog and digital displays and a casing that measures 47.8mm this new hybrid bodes well for wrist presence.
Along with power reserve display function, the dual time capability allows for a local time indiction mode. The new series is water resistant up to 200 meters and ISO certified for scuba diving. With a lightweight matte black case, rose gold accents, silicon strap and a one way rotating elapsed time bezel, there’s an emphasis on a cool yet utilitarian style for today’s consumer. Japanese watch brand Seiko has once again fused watch lover’s galore creating a modern version of the popular 1982 Hybrid Diver’s watch called the SNJ028.
