The Orient Bambino FER2400DB is the black Roman-dial dress automatic from the early Bambino run, before Orient moved this face onto the later F6724 references. If you want a simple steel dress watch with a high domed crystal and a date, this is that watch. It is currently out of stock. Use the notify link on this page if you want a restock note.
What the dial actually shows
The listing photos are a black dial, not a sunburst blue and not a steel bracelet. Silver Roman numerals sit at the even hours, including IIII at 4 rather than IV. Stick indexes fill the odd hours. The date window replaces the 3. Silver dauphine hour and minute hands share the dial with a thin central seconds hand. Under the 12 is the Orient crest, then ORIENT and Automatic. Water Resist is printed above 6. There is no lume on the hour markers.
Along the minute track the dial also prints a short movement line and an ER24-style code. Quote calibre 48743, not that dial code. The line on the dial is not the origin of the unit we send.
Case, strap, and what it is not
The case is polished stainless steel with a pull-out crown at 3. The same FER2400 case, measured on the white-dial sibling and on sheets that group FER2400DB with ER2400DB, is 40.5 mm wide and about 46 mm lug to lug. Thickness is listed as 11.8 mm on retailer sheets, and about 12 mm if you measure to the top of the dome. Lug width is 21 mm. The size fields on this listing still show 40 mm and 22 mm. Use 40.5 mm and 21 mm. The photos show a black crocodile-grain leather strap with a light lining, not a bracelet.
The crystal is domed mineral. Water resistance is 30 m, which covers rain and handwashing. It is not a watch for the pool. The gallery has no case-back frame, so this page does not describe an engraving that is not pictured. Early Bambinos of this generation used a solid case back.
FER2400DB is not the later black Version 3 FAC0000DB0. That later reference uses the F6724 calibre, which can be hand-wound and hacks. Calibre 48743 does neither. It is automatic only, 21 jewels, about 40 hours of power reserve, and 21,600 vibrations per hour. You set the time with the crown. You cannot stop the seconds hand to sync it, and you cannot wind it by hand if it has run down. Wear it, or give the case a gentle shake, to start it.

Questions buyers ask
What movement is in the Orient Bambino FER2400DB?
Orient calibre 48743. It is a 21-jewel automatic with about 40 hours of power reserve and a 21,600 beat rate. It does not hack and it does not hand-wind. The ER24 code printed on the dial is a movement-line mark, not the calibre name to use.
What size is the FER2400DB?
About 40.5 mm across, about 46 mm lug to lug, and 11.8 mm thick, or about 12 mm if the measurement includes the top of the domed crystal. The lugs are 21 mm. The stored case-size field on this page still says 40 mm, and the band-width field still says 22 mm. Use 40.5 mm and 21 mm.
Is the strap leather or steel?
Leather. The photos show a black crocodile-grain leather strap. The band-material attribute still says stainless steel, and the band colour still says silver. That is leftover data, not the watch in the photos.
Is the FER2400DB the same watch as FAC0000DB0?
No. FAC0000DB0 is the later black Bambino on calibre F6724, which adds hand-winding and a hacking seconds hand. FER2400DB is the earlier 48743 version of the black Roman dial. The case idea is related. The movement is not the same.
Can you swim with the Orient Bambino FER2400DB?
No. It is rated to 30 m. Rain and washing your hands are the sensible limit. Take it off for the shower, the pool, and the beach.
Where can I buy the FER2400DB in Australia?
This page is the Chronospride listing. It is out of stock at the moment. The Orient Bambino buying guide covers how the later versions differ, and the Orient classic watches category is where the in-stock dress models sit.
Origin
Orient is a Japanese brand. FER2400DB is an earlier Bambino, from before the later Thailand-production classics. The case back of the unit supplied shows where that unit was made.
