The Orient Bambino RA-AK0806L30B is Version 9 of the Classic line: a 41.5 mm dress watch with a navy dial, a day-of-week disc, a date window, and a sun-and-moon indicator that shows day and night. It is the reference people mean when they search for an Orient Bambino sun and moon in navy, not a diver and not a green-dial sibling.
On the wrist it reads as a dress watch that still tells you the day. Silver-tone Roman numerals and stick indexes sit on a navy sunburst dial. The day disc is in the upper half, near 10 o’clock. The date window is at 3. The sun-and-moon disc sits in the lower half and turns through a 24-hour cycle, with a sun face and a crescent moon. That is a day/night indicator, not an astronomical moonphase. Orient’s own sheet for this reference calls the calibre F6B24 and lists a weekly day, a date, a 24-hour sub-register, and an exhibition case back.
Who it suits
Buy this if you want a Bambino with more going on than hour markers and a date, and you are happy with a leather strap and splash-only water resistance. The 41.5 mm case, 47 mm lug-to-lug, is a step larger than the 38.4 mm Bambino versions. It still wears as a dress watch, especially on the navy leather strap, but it is not the small-wrist Bambino.
Skip it if you need a swim watch, a steel bracelet, or a plain dial you can read in a hurry. The subdials are the point of this model. They also make the face busier than a stick-index Bambino.
Movement and case
Calibre F6B24 is Orient’s in-house automatic for this sun-and-moon family. It hand-winds, the seconds hand hacks when you pull the crown, and the power reserve is about 40 hours. Published sheets list 22 jewels and 21,600 vibrations an hour. The crown is push-pull, not screw-down.
The case is stainless steel, 41.5 mm across, 14.2 mm thick, with 21 mm lugs and a domed mineral crystal. Water resistance is 30 metres. That covers rain and handwashing. It is not a pool watch. The case back is exhibition, so you can see the rotor. The strap is navy crocodile-pattern leather with a pin buckle and an Orient-signed clasp.

Questions buyers ask
What movement is in the Orient Bambino RA-AK0806L30B?
Orient calibre F6B24, an in-house automatic with hand-winding, hacking seconds, and about 40 hours of power reserve. It also drives the day, the date, and the 24-hour sun-and-moon disc.
Is the sun and moon a moonphase complication?
No. It is a day/night indicator on a 24-hour disc, with a sun and a moon shown in the aperture. It does not track the lunar month the way a traditional moonphase does.
What size is the RA-AK0806L30B?
41.5 mm wide, 14.2 mm thick, 47 mm from lug to lug, on a 21 mm strap. That is the Version 9 Classic size, larger than a 38.4 mm Bambino.
What colour is the dial and the strap?
Navy dial and a navy crocodile-pattern leather strap. Older copy on this page called the dial green. That was wrong. The green sun-and-moon sibling is a different reference. One gallery frame is that green reference, used only as a strap-layout image, and is labelled as such.
Can I swim with this Bambino?
No. Water resistance is 30 metres with a push-pull crown. Rain and handwashing are the sensible limit.
Where does the case back say this watch was made?
Orient is a Japanese brand. This reference is current production, not an Orient Star. The case back in our listing photos is marked Made in Thailand, which is the marking on the watch we send.
