The Seiko SNAE12P1 is a white-dial alarm chronograph on a white leather strap, with a rose gold-tone case and matching hands. It is the watch you pick when you want a stopwatch and a simple alarm in one quartz piece, without moving up to a thick dive watch.
It suits someone who wants a dress-sport Seiko for the office or a night out, and still wants to time something or set a reminder. The white strap and warm-tone case read dressier than a steel bracelet chronograph. It is not a tool diver, and it is not an automatic.
What you actually get
The dial is white, with rose gold-tone bar markers and hands. Seiko, Chronograph and 100M are printed on the dial, and the calibre line reads 7T62. Three subdials do the extra work:
- 12 o’clock: chronograph minute counter, marked MN
- 9 o’clock: running seconds
- 6 o’clock: alarm hand, marked ALARM
- Date window at 3 o’clock
- Central chronograph seconds hand
Calibre 7T62 is a Japan quartz movement. The chronograph counts in fifths of a second, up to 60 minutes. The alarm can be set to ring once in the next 12 hours, and the same subdial can be read as a second time zone. Seiko rates the battery at about three years in normal use (SR927W, also sold as 395 or 399). If the small seconds hand starts jumping every two seconds, the cell is low. Leaving the chronograph running all day drains it faster.
The case is rose gold-tone stainless steel with a fixed, notched bezel. The crown is push-pull, with two chronograph pushers. The case back is solid. The strap is white leather with a crocodile texture and a rose gold-tone buckle stamped Seiko. Lug width on this listing is 22 mm, so a replacement strap is easy to find later.
Specs
- Reference: SNAE12P1 (also listed as SNAE12)
- Movement: Seiko quartz calibre 7T62, alarm and chronograph, hacking seconds

The 22 mm lug width is the figure that matters if you swap the strap later. The white leather that comes on it is a dress strap, not a dive strap.
How it wears
Forty-four millimetres with a leather strap sits in normal chronograph territory. It will not disappear on a small wrist, and it will not feel like a cushion-case diver either. The white strap keeps it lighter visually than the rose gold-tone case suggests in a product photo. One hundred metres covers rain, handwashing and surface swimming. Do not press the pushers underwater, and do not treat it as a dive watch.
If you wanted an automatic Seiko instead, look through the Seiko watches we have in stock. This one belongs with the quartz watches: set it, wear it, change the battery every few years.
Common questions
What movement does the Seiko SNAE12P1 use?
Quartz calibre 7T62. It has a central chronograph seconds hand, a 60-minute counter at 12, running seconds at 9, an alarm subdial at 6, and a date at 3. It is not an automatic movement.
Is the Seiko SNAE12P1 a dive watch?
No. The dial is marked 100M, which is fine for swimming at the surface, but the crown is push-pull and the bezel does not rotate. Use a screw-down diver if you actually dive.
How does the alarm work on the SNAE12P1?
The 6 o’clock subdial is marked ALARM. On calibre 7T62 the alarm is set to ring once in the next 12 hours, and that hand can also be used as a second time-zone marker. The tone comes from the case back, so a very thick strap or a desk can muffle it.
What size is the Seiko SNAE12P1?
This listing shows about 44 mm across, 12 mm thick, and a 22 mm white leather strap. It is a standard men’s chronograph size, not an oversized sports watch.
How long does the battery last?
Seiko rates the 7T62 cell at about three years if you do not leave the chronograph running for hours every day. The replacement is an SR927W (395 or 399). A jumping small seconds hand means the battery is due.
Is the SNAE12P1 suitable for everyday wear?
Yes, as a dress-sport watch. The leather strap and white dial are happier in an office or at dinner than on a building site. Wipe the strap if it gets soaked, and keep the pushers dry.
