Seiko Presage SRPL20J1 Lark Ichigo Ichie Cocktail Time

Looking for the second Seiko and Lark Cocktail Time, not the earlier gold Irori Moments and not The Conte? The SRPL20J1 is that watch. Seiko Australia lists it as an Australasian exclusive of 1,000 pieces, built on the 40.5 mm Presage Cocktail Time case, with a champagne engraved sunray dial and a rose-gold-tone finish.

Ichigo Ichie (一期一会) is the idea of treating one meeting as unrepeatable. Lark Distillery used the name for a champagne cocktail. Seiko used the same story for this limited edition: rose-gold-tone hands and markers, a pale sunray that shifts between off-white and champagne, and a black leather strap. The dial is marked Presage Automatic and Made in Japan, with the date at 3.

Why this Lark edition works as a dress automatic

One thousand pieces, serial engraved on the exhibition case back, and Seiko does not let you pick the number. The case is the familiar Cocktail Time size: 40.5 mm across, 11.8 mm thick, 47.5 mm lug-to-lug, 20 mm between the lugs. Seiko Boutique Australia lists the weight at about 70 g. That is a shirt-cuff watch, not a diver.

It shares that case with other 40.5 mm Cocktail Times, including The Conte SRPL96J1. The difference is the face and the strap. This one is champagne and black leather. The Conte is a different dial and a brown strap. Do not buy the Lark if you wanted the red-leaning Conte, and do not buy either if you wanted a 200 m sports watch.

The movement is Caliber 4R35: automatic, hand-winding, hacking, 23 jewels, date, about 41 hours of reserve. The listing case back is a see-through screw-down back with a gold-tone rotor, “Limited Edition” on the rim, and twenty-three jewels visible. The crystal over the dial is box-shaped Hardlex, not sapphire. The crown pulls out. Water resistance is 5 bar, which is 50 metres. Rain is fine. Swimming is not the job.

Each watch ships in Seiko’s special dark timber presentation box for this edition. Chronospride inspects the stock before dispatch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Seiko SRPL20J1 Lark Ichigo Ichie?

It is the second Seiko Presage Cocktail Time made with Tasmania’s Lark Distillery, limited to 1,000 pieces for Australia and New Zealand. Champagne sunray dial, rose-gold-tone 40.5 mm case, black leather strap, Caliber 4R35.

How many SRPL20J1 watches were made?

1,000. Seiko engraves Limited Edition and a serial on the exhibition case back. The number is not something you choose at order time. Watches are sent at random.

What movement does the SRPL20J1 use?

Seiko Caliber 4R35. Automatic with manual winding and a stop-seconds function, 23 jewels, date at 3, about 41 hours of power reserve. It is not quartz and not solar.

What size is the SRPL20J1?

40.5 mm diameter, 11.8 mm thick, 47.5 mm lug-to-lug, 20 mm between the lugs. Seiko Boutique Australia lists about 70 g. A standard 20 mm leather strap fits if you change the original later.

Can you swim with the SRPL20J1?

No. It is rated 50 metres with a pull-out crown. Treat it as a dress watch. Hand-washing is the sensible limit. For swimming or diving, look at a 200 m Prospex instead.

How is the Lark different from The Conte?

Both are 40.5 mm Cocktail Time automatics with box-shaped Hardlex and 50 m water resistance. The Lark SRPL20J1 is the champagne Ichigo Ichie dial on black leather, 1,000 pieces with Lark. The Conte SRPL96J1 is a different limited dial and strap. Check the reference on the case back before you assume they are the same watch.

Where can I buy the SRPL20J1 in Australia?
